The Tempest paper:
Directions: please construct a paper that argues a theme in the tempest. Remember that we have worked on changing topics into themes in class. You may use (legally steal) any of the theme statements constructed in class. Remember that some of these are better than others in idea and eloquence. Feel free to refurbish sentences that may seem still a bit rough. You may also construct a brand new one if so inclined. You should have a very small introduction paragraph that contains this thematic idea and any other opening words on play. Use text/lines from the play! Your paper should analyze text and your evidence should be situations where your thematic statement is relevant. Think about a conclusion that deals with the big idea and how this play is still relevant and serves as a reminder.
Make sure that your paper is...
* insightful -- no obvious claims please! Content is key!
* polished -- reword each sentence for maximum syntactical smoothness
* at least 1.5 pages typed
* 12 pt standard font
* double-spaced -- no funny stuff with titles and margins!
* no shortie paragraphs
* no paragraphs that end with quotes- only explanations of them
* try your best to quote poetry correctly using MLA
* if you want advice on your progress, start early and see me by Wednesday
* late papers are -10 per day, no credit after 3 days late, field trips count!
